# VAR Sheets Overview

> The VAR sheets that identify deployed terminals to the processor

A VAR sheet carries the identifiers a terminal needs to reach the processor — V-number, store and terminal numbers, agent, and chain. Provisioning a line item writes one automatically; these endpoints read and create them directly.

To obtain a **new** terminal from TSYS for a merchant that has already boarded, use [Mint VAR sheet](/api-reference/deployments/mint-line-item-var-sheet) on the line item rather than creating a sheet by hand.
