# File Builds Overview

> Configure how a deployment line item's device is programmed

A file build holds the programming configuration for a single line item: the features the device is built with, including PIN Debit. Because only a PIN Debit unit may carry a merchant ABA number and settlement agent, a build that turns PIN Debit off also clears those fields from the line item's VAR sheet.
